How Being an Only Child Affects My Hero Academia Bakugo was shaped into a hero.
Katsuki Bakugo grew raised without any brothers or sisters, which may have turned him into My Hero Academia's most self-absorbed pupil.
My Hero Academia invests a significant amount of time and effort in developing its characters beyond their unique quirks and showy superhero or villain outfits. They also have deep and emotionally resonant character arcs and backstories with both happy and dysfunctional families, such as the difficult Todoroki household.
Katsuki Bakugo, Izuku Midoriya's childhood buddy, hails from a stable and happy family with two supportive parents, Masaru and Mitsuki. Their kid, on the other hand, is a true jerk, notoriously competitive and self-absorbed. This might be related to who isn't in his family, rather than who is. Having a single child may have contributed to Bakugo being the ferocious shonen adversary he is.
Bakugo grew up without brothers or sisters in My Hero Academia
Experts are still unsure how factors like birth order or family size impact how a person grows up, and popular beliefs and common assumptions further muddy the waters. For example, older siblings aren't necessarily authoritarian and careful, while younger siblings aren't always creative attention-seekers. Yet, for the sake of storytelling, some works of fiction adhere to fundamental notions of what specific siblings in a family are meant to be like, and the same is true for only children. There is a misconception that an only child would be self-absorbed since they are accustomed to everything in the family being about them without siblings vying for the parents' attention. It is, at best, a broad generalization, but it may be useful in fiction.
The Bakugo family is tiny, with Katsuki being Masaru and Mitsuki's only child. Bakugo breaks the boundaries of what only children are considered to be in both amusing and sad ways, being doggedly self-centered to the point of egomania. The young hero has considerable skills, with his Quirk being an excellent blend of his parents' own Quirks, but the boy's attitude of superiority may have been heightened by his lack of brothers and sisters. Katsuki Bakugo, the single kid and a UA student with great Quirk, is used to everything in his home being around him. Masaru and Mitsuki are both publicly proud of and encourage their kid, but it appears to have gotten to him.
Fans of My Hero Academia can only speculate on what Bakugo might have been like if he had at least one sibling or sister as a child, and there are several aspects to ponder. If a Bakugo brother had a powerful Quirk like Explosion, Katsuki could have been even more competitive to gain his parents' approval. If the sibling had a lesser Quirk or none at all, Katsuki may have ridiculed them or wanted to protect and encourage them, which would have brought out his finest side. And if he had an older, more responsible sibling or sister, he could have learned to rely on others and not be so viciously self-reliant.
Katsuki Bakugo vs. His My Hero Academia Classmates
Bakugo is a self-centered, competitive-only kid, which sets him apart from some of his most renowned Class 1-A colleagues at UA. Midoriya, his greatest competitor, is also an only child, but because he lacks a Quirk, he is modest and unselfish in his goal to become the new #1 hero with One For All. Students like them are visibly impacted not just by the absence of siblings, but also by their quirks and lack thereof. Yet, being a lone child and possessing a powerful Quirk helped to shape Bakugo into the fearsome antihero he is in MHA – and may have made him even more arrogant and pompous.
Several Class 1-A kids, such as Tsuyu Asui, Shoto Todoroki, and Tenya Iida, have been proven to have brothers and sisters, making them the exception. There is substantial evidence that having siblings influenced how these pupils grew up in terms of personality, worldview, and even attitude as future Pro Heroes. Tsuyu, unlike Bakugo, grew up with a younger brother and sister; babysitting them helped shape her into a responsible, careful, and empathic person.
Meanwhile, Tenya Iida is nicely competitive and keen to show himself because he has a Pro Hero big brother to look up to, Tensei. Shoto is the youngest but the most genetically desirable kid in the Todoroki family, and he may succeed where Toya, Fuyumi, and Natsuo failed in his father Endeavor's eyes. There may not always be a link between family and Quirks in My Hero Academia, but there are strong signs that having or not having siblings may have a significant impact on how any student hero ends out.
